Class of 2006

 

Kayla Oliver of the class of 2006 has been accepted into Medical School in Virginia, where she will begin work to obtain her MD in Addiction Medicine.

Presently, she is in her Junior year of college at Alvernia in Reading, where she is majoring in Addiction Studies with a minor in Psychology. After graduation, she will continue toward a Masters degree in Social work.

Currently, Kayla is working at a non-profit transitional housing facility, which provides services and support to those in recovery from addiction.  She said, she truly attributes "my successes to the people who taught, encouraged and supported me for so many years."

In December 2007, Kayla traveled to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with ten Alvernia students including Alaina Pastal of the same class to do mission work in impoverished areas and assisted in primitive class room settings. She hopes to travel to El Salvador and make an AIDS awareness trip to South Africa in the future.

 

Amanda Prescott, class of 2006, is a sophomore Musical Theater major at Kutztown University.  Amanda was just accepted for an August 2008 internship with Disney through the college program doing work with the rides and the theaters.  She's off to Orlando this summer.

 

Class of 2005

 

Billy McShane is a junior History Major at Saint Joseph's University and is
currently spending the Spring Semester in Washington D.C. interning at the
United States Department of State.

 

Class of 2004

 

Michelle Hess, 2004, is working in Phoenix, Arizona, as a K-5 Special Needs Instructor under a program called Teach for America.The organization employs highly-qualified college graduates to work in low-income schools throughout the country. She works with a population of students who are 100% on free and reduced lunch as well as are 98% Spanish-speaking.
 
Michelle graduated cum laude from Georgetown University. in May 2008 with a major in Psychology and minors in Spanish and Theology.

Beckie Nash

Beckie Nash married Jon DiPasquale in May of 2008. They live in Arlington VA where her husbnd Jon has a job with the government. Beckie is currently the lead teacher in a toddler  classroom.  

Vanessa Schneider

Vanessa Schneider is editor in chief of The Ithacan, Ithaca College's school newspaper.   It recently won three Pacemaker Awards.  The Pacemaker is the Pulitzer prize of college journalism.  To read more about it and to see Vanessa's picture with the awards, go to http://www.ithaca.edu/intercom/article.php?story=20061030165738396  

Vanessa interned with In Style magazine in the Time/Life Building in New York City during the summer of 2006.  She was one of 39 college students nationwide chosen by the American Society of Magazine Editors to work at a major magazine. 

Vanessa had been the Editor-in-Chief of Lebanon Catholic's newspaper, The Challenge, during her junior and senior years of high school." 

She is the news assistant for the Community Team of the New York Times Web site.

Allison E. Schrum

Allison attends Villanova and spent the 2nd semester of her junior year in Australia. She spent the summer of 2006 as a ball girl for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Laura Thompson

Laura Thompson (2000) earned an MFA in Poetry from Vermont College in 2007.  Thompson, who earned a  B.A. Hon. in English/Creative Writing from Lycoming College with minors in Psychology and Gender Studies, has also studied in Ireland and Slovenia.

Christopher Forsyth  

Prayers are requested for alumnus Christopher Forsyth who was injured in Iraq when a bomb exploded on his Bradley Fighting Vehicle in Ramadi.  While Chris broke his back, he was fortunately not paralyzed. 

Diego and Katherine Guerra NC

Diego graduated in 2000 and Katherine was a member of the class of 2001. Currently Diego is serving in the United States Marine Corps. They have two children Devin(4) and Nicholas(2). They are living in North Carolina and Diego is stationed at Camp Lejeune.  Diego will be leaving for Iraq in June of this year and we would like to ask for the schools thoughts and prayers to be with him.

Joseph Coyle

Joseph Coyle joined the Peace Corps and spent time in Bangladesh where he studied the language Bangla and learned a lot about it being “dirty, hot and wet.”   Joe received a degree in philosophy from Fordham and a masters in Bioethics from Case Western Reserve. 

Jess Cerutti

Jess spent a half a year in Alexandria, Egypt. Alexandria was her home until December 2005. She studied the language of Arabic. Her email is itturec@hotmail.com
