What is it?
Smart Money is a gift card program to lower your tuition costs through everyday purchases. You earn money back on things you're already buying! It is NOT a fundraiser.
Here's how it works...You purchase gift cards at face value through the Smart Money Program. The stores return a percentage of the sale to us which we apply to your tuition account.
Here's an example...Say you spend $50 a week on groceries at Giant. First, purchase a $50 Giant gift card through Smart Money. You give us $50, and we'll give you a $50 gift card. Next, take the gift card with you when you shop. Pay for your groceries with the gift card.
Meanwhile, we apply the discount from the retailer to your tuition account.
How do I begin?
Simply complete an order form and return it with your payment to the main office. Orders are due by 9:00 am on order days. Most families send in their orders with their child. So you don't even have to get out of the car in the morning!
We accept cash or check made payable to LC Smart Money. We do not accept credit cards.
Participation is optional. An order is not required each time. You may order one time only or each time, depending on your needs.
How will I receive my gift card order?
We can send it home with your child or you can pick it up. Just designate on the order form which option you prefer.
If you want your child in grades Pre K - 5 to bring it home, we'll deliver the order to his/her homeroom. The teacher will hand out the orders, and your child can bring it home in his/her backpack.
If you want your child in grades 6 - 12 to bring it home, he/she will be paged to the main office during afternoon announcements to pick up the order. Students in grades 6 - 12 must sign for their order. Please ask your child to take this responsibility seriously since we are not responsible for lost or stolen cards.
Or you may pick up your order in person in the main office after 2:00 pm.
What do I do with the colored pouch?
Your gift card order will arrive in a colored pouch labeled for your family. We'll also include a new order form each time. When you place your next order, send your completed order form and payment back to us in the Smart Money pouch. We exchange the pouch back and forth throughout the year.
Smart Money charges a $1.00 replacement fee should you misplace your pouch.
When and how do I receive my tuition credit?
We'll print a Family Profit Report for you each month. We'll send your Family Profit Report home to you in your pouch. The credit amount that appears on the Family Profit Report is the amount that will automatically be deducted from your tuition account for the next month. You don't have to do a thing.
Credits from purchases made one month show up the next month. For example, if you purchase gift cards in September, the credit will show up on your October statement.
Smart Money retains 1% of the credit to offset program expenses like printer cartridges, paper, shipping costs, pouches, computer software, etc. The percentages on the order form accurately reflect the amount you will receive and have already been reduced by 1%.
Can I still participate if I pay my tuition on a quarterly or annual basis?
You bet. Please call the Smart Money office at 273-3731, ext. 331, to discuss your options.
Can I help another family with tuition instead of my own?
Yes. Your credit can be applied in any of the following ways:
Credit the tuition account of an LC family of your choice
Credit the LC Smart Money Scholarship Fund
Credit a teacher's account for classroom supplies
